Don’t be a victim of motorcycle theft, be prepared!  Sad to say this day and age it’s a reality that must be faced.  Someone may want to steal your motorcycle.  Here are some tips that may help to keep you from becoming a victim of this crime.Transportation 043

Be seen!

Park where there is a lot of lights and people, the more eyes that are on your bike the less likely a thief is going to take a second look at taking it. The thief doesn’t know who are your friends and who may be willing to jump in to stop them.

Locks do help!

Just the site of a lock, even if it is one that can be broken, may make the lowdown thief walk away. Take a lesson from the bicycle rider and tether your motorcycle to something solid, especially if the motorcycle is out of sight.

Add a alarm!

Thieves do not want attention, so the sound of a loud alarm should make them run!  There are many alarms on the market, ask a fellow rider which one they may have.

Sad to say you will need to put your Crampbuster away in your saddlebag or pocket when you park. We hear all the time about riders coming back to their motorbikes only to find someone has ripped off their Crampbuster.  Then the ride without your Crampbuster may be a painful experience for your wrist!  Plus you will be mad because someone touched your motorcycle and took what belonged to you.

Use Social Media!

If you have your motorcycle stolen, immediately call the police and your insurance company. Some people put ads on social media, such as facebook or instagram. Remember, everyone hates a thief.  Have plenty of pictures of the motorcycle downloaded to your phone, tablet, or computer so that you can share them in a timely manner.

You may also want to look into a gadget that can track your motorcycle if it is stolen.  One option we found is a small item called a Tile. It is a mini bluetooth smart tag with GPS tracking ability.  Tile is slim and easy to stick, slide or tuck into tight spots, like wallets, purses. It fits perfectly in a saddlebag.  You download the app to any smart phone or tablet to use its tracking ability.  If your motorcycle is stolen you can select “notify when found” in the app and when any device in the Tile community simply passes by your motorcycle, you’ll automatically be notified of its most recent location.  This feature works 100% anonymously and automatically to protect your privacy.  You can find more information at the “Tile App Page”

On their webpage you will also find a story about how a stolen bike was recovered!  Read for yourself  Stolen Pedego Bike Recoverd!

The more people notified of the stolen motorcycle the better your chances are of recovering it. We hope you never have to worry about this, but just in case, it best to be prepared!
