The beginning

The original universal design.

The original Crampbuster started life as a universal motorcycle cruise assist. It was designed with a diameter of 1 1/8 inches and a paddle extending about 2 inches back toward the rider.

An editor at Popular Science purchased a Crampbuster for testing and was so impressed that it was featured in the magazine’s “What’s New?” section.

That recognition was a turning point. People began to take Crampbuster seriously.

A new fit

Making room for larger grips.

When Harley introduced oversized grips, some riders found the Standard Crampbuster difficult to stretch open for installation.

Crampbuster responded with an Oversize model. Its 1 3/8-inch diameter made installation on larger grips easier, replacing the one-size-fits-all approach with two grip sizes.

Early 2005

A shorter, wider paddle.

Riders started modifying their Crampbusters to suit their preferences. Some shortened the paddle themselves, using tools ranging from hacksaws to axes.

Those homemade changes inspired a professionally finished option. In early 2005, the Standard Wide CB2 became the third member of the Crampbuster family.

More choice for riders

Wide support for oversized grips.

Harley riders soon asked for a wide-paddle model for their larger grips, too. The Oversize Wide CB4 followed, bringing the wider design to the oversize range.

CB3 and CB4 serve riders with oversized grips, with a choice of narrow or wide paddle shapes. Check the current model details when choosing your fit.
