LED Lights for your Motorcycle

By May 30, 2017June 2nd, 2017Main

Most of us know about LED lights for our home, they are bright and long lasting.  So why not for your motorcycle!  The options for where you can install motorcycle LED lights are up to you.  So follow along as we take a look at what questions you should think about before you buy.

First of all check your state laws regarding the installation of any LED lighting kits; in some states it is illegal to have them on your motorcycle.  Do your due diligence before you buy and install them. For instance, here is a link we found for California law:  www.californiacarlaws.com/neon-lights/

That being said, where will you install your new lights?  On the market today are LED light kits that give your motorcycle an under glow.  They are a real head turner.  These are available in multi color or one color.  It’s a personal choice, but usually only one color is used for the best visual effect.Night Riding

Ask you biker buddies and have a look on YouTube for blogs or suggestions.  This will give you a good idea of how others put them on their motorcycles.  Avoid their mistakes, which will save you time and money!

Look for a company that has good reviews or ratings.  Do they have a real person that can answer questions about tech support? Do they have a testimonial page, how long have they been in business? You may not want to choose Ebay or Amazon if questions are not answered in the description.  Watch out for the imported products which seem too good to be true. You get what you pay for.

Installation:

Be aware of how the lights are installed. Most come with self adhesive tape, make sure it adheres well.

Clean the part of the motorcycle you are planning to install them on, or you will be dragging your awesome lights down the road!

Be prepared to get out the soldering gun. We have found that several brands will require you to connect the wires and soldering is the best way to make these connections.

Before you connect the lights to your motorcycle’s electrical system, be sure and use a fuse.  The last thing you want is to fry the electrical system or have a fire.

So if the law allows and you are inclined, have fun and light up the world around you!  As you are cruising around with your awesome lights don’t forget to have your Crampbuster on your grip.  It will allow you to ride without the pain of having to grip and twist the throttle!
